I've become suddenly very interested in graphic novels lately.  After reading Craig Thompson's Carnet de Voyage (make sure you use the little arrows at top to see more page examples), I was inspired to do some pen-and-ink drawings.  In the one at left, I used a normal extra-fine Pilot Precise rolling ball; for the other two, I used a cool brush pen Huy gave me a couple of years ago.  (And yes, the rightmost drawing is a spinoff of the first.)

What have I learned from drawing these?
(1) I am very bad at perspective.  Erik pointed out that in the drawing on the left, the viewer sees the girl and the tree from two separate perspectives.  But we both decided that this gave the picture an interesting surreal quality.  Maybe I can make my inability to draw perspective work for me?
(2) Brush pens, regular pens: my art still looks more or less like it usually does.  I suppose I have some sort of "technique," but whatever it is, I only have one.
(3) Thanks to dance classes, my understanding of anatomy is a lot better than it used to be.  But my tendency is still to make everyone pretty and elongate their legs a ton.  Oh well.  Wishful thinking, eh?
