I baked a cake to bring to the dinner. The icing is from Cook's _The_Best_Recipe_ and was delicious and thick and chocolatey. The cake wasn't as good since I overbaked it, having never made a light cake before (I don't like them). The classic genoise from _Baking_with_Julia_. It was hard and dry. Tasted better the second day, though there wasn't much of it left by then.
