I was disappointed not to see James Vernon (who had planned to be there) or Kerwin Klein (who has never attended a graduation in his life, not even his own, though he said it was "possible" he'd be at this one), but I was glad to run into these two and get a photo with them. They don't roam Ishi Courtyard as a pair, by the way; that I ran into them at the same time is pure coincidence. As far as I know. Prof Laqueur was helpful and supportive when I was beginning to think about food as a topic, and he also read and commented on my thesis. Prof Henkin, you'll remember if you read my journal at the end of last semester, knows some cool people. He also has very snazzy shirts; it's too bad we don't get to see in this photo. My parents were amazed at how young he is. I guess I was surprised too the first time I saw him. Notice Prof Hesse (in orange robe) in the background.
